Sunshine Acres is a veteran owned farm in Gloucester, Virginia that seeks to provide hands on experiences to special needs adults and children in a farm setting. From starting seeds for the garden to watching chicks and ducklings hatch and helping feed the goats and turkeys, we envision a tactile environment where learning is fun! And of course, petting the goat babies is a special treat!

Lori is a retired Special Needs teacher with a Master's degree from Virginia Tech, and an Air Force veteran. Tom is retired from the Air Force and is the builder and maintainer of the various systems around the farm. Our adult son Michael is a special needs ray of Sunshine! He loves the animals and is a big help around the farm.

We started our farm in March of 2022. Located on 13 acres, we have spent much effort building goat pens and coops for the feathered residents. In addition to the animal pens, we have established an orchard, grape arbor and a garden. There are goats, and numerous chickens in addition to ducks turkeys and quail. We sell the eggs locally. We never eat our animals, as they are all part of the family
